Privacy Policy

Sight Word Adventure is a child-directed educational product made by Happy Minds Studios. We collect as little information as possible, and never more than we need to teach reading.

Who owns the account

A parent or guardian creates and owns the account using their own email address and password. Children never create accounts, never provide an email address or phone number, and are never asked for a legal name or date of birth.

Each child profile stores only a nickname, an avatar picture, and an optional age or grade label chosen by the parent.

What we store

Parent account: email address, an encrypted password managed by our authentication provider, and subscription status.

Child profiles: nickname, avatar, optional age or grade label.

Learning progress: which sight words have been seen and practiced, how often answers were correct, mastery level, stars, badges, and a short activity history. This exists so the game can teach effectively and so parents can see progress.

Payment details are entered directly with Stripe. We never see or store card numbers.

What we never do

We do not sell or rent information about children. We do not show third-party advertising or behavioural advertising. We do not build advertising profiles.

There is no child-to-child chat, no public profiles, no messaging, no social media login, and no user-generated content shared between accounts.

Who can see a child’s data

Only the parent who owns the account. Access is enforced at the database level, so one family’s profiles and progress are never reachable from another account.

Service providers that make the product work — our hosting provider, our database and authentication provider, and Stripe for payments — process data on our behalf under their own terms.

Keeping and deleting data

Learning progress is kept while the account exists, including after a subscription ends, so a returning child never loses their work. Cancelling billing never deletes progress.

A parent can request deletion of their account, their child profiles, and all associated progress by emailing support@happymindsstudios.com. We will confirm when it is done.

A note on legal compliance

This product is designed with children’s privacy in mind and follows data-minimisation practices. This document describes our actual practices; it is not a statement of certification or of legal review. Parents with questions about a specific regulation should contact us and we will answer directly.

Changes and contact

If this policy changes in a way that affects what we collect, we will notify account holders by email. Questions: support@happymindsstudios.com.
